proposed new St. Isidore church

A Building Fund Update to Mark the Beginning of June

JUNE 1, 2008 - Phase 2 of the St. Isidore Building Campaign was officially completed on May 15. We are excited to report that the building fund balance is $1,169,858. (That translates to $526,941 in pledges and $642,917. in cash - not counting today) While it is quite remarkable to have raised this money in a relatively short time, we admit that we have some distance to go to meet our goal of $3.5 million, however, we are most encouraged by the generosity and interest of fellow parishioners.

Phase 3 will be on-going over the summer and fall. It will consist of updating our parishioner list, visiting those missed in the phases 1 and 2 and identifying newcomers. Phase 3 will also consist of some 'special projects' - the first of which will be launched at the Church Picnic on June 22 after the 10 am Mass at the Venta Preparatory School - 2013 Old Carp Road. Don't miss it!

Upcoming: A Special Fundraising Raffle of a Ben Babelowsky Original

Ben Babelowsky - a well-known local artist has donated a large, framed 'original acrylic painting' depicting a traditional Lanark County sugar bush. The painting is valued at $2500. and will be exhibited at our St. Isidore Picnic on June 22, where we plan to sell tickets. Ben has produced over 2,500 original watercolours, acrylics and oil paintings to date which have been sold all over the world. After retiring from The Ottawa Citizen in 1993, Ben continues to paint the spectacular rural and urban scenery of Eastern Canada, the USA and the Maritimes. Ben frequently donates his art to charities. His work is part of many important collections. Governments, embassies corporations, and individuals around the world proudly display his art in public buildings, offices and private homes. More at: www.artbybabelowsky.com

We are indebted to Ben Babelowsky for his generosity to the St. Isidore Building Fund.
